Lesson Plan: Colors week!

These next 2 weeks will be Colors week. Basically a review of all the "basic colors"

The basis of this week will be a personal favorite "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?"

Each day of the week will have a color theme this week will cover brown, red, yellow, blue and green.

Keep in mind my goal here is to keep things light and play oriented. These are just a few ideas at the end of the week I will post a review (both of what she liked and didn't) and include any other ideas I came up with.

Day1: Brown Bear
Color brown bear picture & hang
pretend to be a bear and talk about bears (where it lives, what it eats, and other interesting facts)
Brown snack: chocolate pudding
find and discuss other things that are brown

Day2: Red Bird
color red bird picture & hang
pretend to be a bird and talk about birds
Red Snack: strawberries
find and discuss other things that are red

Day3: Yellow Duck
color yellow duck & hang
pretend to be a duck and talk about ducks
Yellow snack: bananas
find and discuss other things that are yellow

Day4: Blue Horse
color blue horse & hang
pretend to be a horse and talk about horses
Blue snack: blueberries
find and discuss other things that are blue

Day5: Green Frog
color green frog & hang
pretend to be a frog and talk about frogs
Green snack: apples
find and discuss other things that are green

Another idea: Color coordinate your little ones clothing (and your own!) to the color of the day. I would do this but I like Sophia's clothes to be colorful and well I'm not sure we actually have many solid color shirts.

  1. I love the idea of using the character from the book for a theme for the day. Great way to keep older toddlers interested in colors.
